Lily's story

Lily's original due date was April 8, which was a Friday.  Since I was 2 days late with Logan (induced) and 4 days late with Landon (induced), I decided to request that my OB induce me on Wednesday.  So, at 1am, the hospital called and asked me to come in.  I called my mom so she could come over to watch the rest of the boys and Andrew and I headed off for the hospital.
Around 4am they started the pitocin and we were on our way to meeting our little blessing.  I was able to rest for the night, since the contractions were not strong.  I was 3cm and 80%, but little Lily was at 2... not ready to head out. By 8am the contractions were strong, and about 1 minute apart.  I was not sure about getting an epideral since I had Landon without one, but it seemed like it was going to be a long labor.  It took about an hour or longer before I was able to get the epideral.  They turned off the pitocin since my contractions were so strong and I was getting very uncomfortable.  Although, little Lily was still not lowering, in fact, I was still taking tums for heartburn!!
Then around 10:30 my epideral was in and I have never been so happy!  I relaxed and could still tell when I was having contractions by listening to Lily's heart rate on the monitor.  Her heart rate would increase just prior to the contraction, then drop down a bit (120s) during, then back to 150 in between.... perfect.  Around 11 my water broke and she started to make her way down, getting ready to come out into the beautiful world.
My OB had been in and out of my room all morning, she had a c-section, and another delivery at around the same time.  But everything worked out perfect.  We were the last to deliver, she came into the room, had time to set up.  We were joking around about how it was the first time I had ever had her 'set up'  for a deliver.  All the others had been so fast, I had to wait for the OB to come running in!!!
Little Lily Grace entered the world in one contraction.  I will never forget the warm feeling of her body being place on my chest.  Andrew was there to cut the cord, as he was for each of the boys.  Lily looked up at me, latched right on and nursed for about an hour before she found her way to sleep in my arms.  A bundle of love... little miracle... I miss feeling her moving inside me... but am so blessed to have her in my arms, the perfect addition to our beautiful family.  She has melted all of our hearts and fulfilled my dreams. I cannot wait to share my life with her.
