this week

i am loving this rainy day.  a time to catch up on some much needed rest and down time.  lily is sleeping as the boys race the derby cars they made at the cub scout event.

a moment alone for me.

lily had her mri and pet scan earlier this week.

she has to have an empty stomach for the tests which is getting harder and harder.  she kept telling me she wanted to nurse, then that she wanted to eat, then that she was hungry as she rummaged through my bag in search of food.  wondering what on earth was wrong with me and why would i not feed her.

everything went smoothly and we got the results the following day at her chemo appointment.

the scans show the tumor remains the same...no growth.  the pet scan shows that it is not metabolically active.  this is wonderful news.  ideally i wish for news that the tumor has disappeared, but this is rarely (very rarely) the case.  i have been on cloud 9 since getting the news.  in another few weeks we should know how much longer we will continue with the chemo.  i am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a chemo break.

we need a break.

many visitors have come our way over the past week.  auntie di, tom, jill, rebecca, jack & sue.  the boys all want to know who is coming next.  it really makes me wish we had more family close by.  there is nothing, and i mean, nothing like family.  i guess thats why once a year we pack our belongings and travel for two days to visit a lake and stay in cottages that have changed very little in the past 60 years.  all because there is nothing like family.

  1. Indeed, that little one needs a break from all of those treatments for sure. It was fun for the boys to see so many visitors coming our way!
