his first play. 

'Little Jack Horner sat in a corner eating some Christmas pie.  He stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plum and said what a good boy am I.'

and he said it perfectly.  even doing a little standing leg cross (that was oh so cute) at the end.  

my little jack horner had a hard time remembering the plum part at first.  then i realized, he had never had a plum.  plums are good, i just never think to buy them.  

he took a bite, then said, a plum is food mommy.  yep, he never forgot his line again.

lounging

i love being around other moms, sharing stories and having fun.  although, i have to say, we do not do many playdates.  i have thought about this, why don't we get together with other families more often, or have people over more.  honestly, i think its just because i have so many kids.  at times the thought of loading them all in the car to bring them anywhere simply overwhelms me.  then the thought of taking care of more then four of them overwhelms me as well.  

i am perfectly content being at home with them, listening to them play (and fight) together. 

now is the perfect time of year. 

i love our yard.

bees buzzing around. 

the birds chirping away.

the grass perfectly soft and green.  

they seem peaceful at play, each in their own make believe world.

trucks were the favorite on this day. 

and what makes these trucks even more special is that once upon a time they belonged to daddy.

bath time

she cannot wait for bath time.  as soon as her last bite of dinner is in her mouth, she turns and says 'all done, bath'.

by the time i catch up with her, she has half her clothes off as she stands there waiting.

it just might be her favorite time of day.

wolf

this cub scout has worked hard all year and has finally earned his wolf badge.  he was one happy camper, face painted in the ceremony and all.

personally, i am glad he is healthy and made it through the week.  over the past two weeks he had started getting some pretty severe bruises, unexplained bruises.  at first i was ready to ask the teachers what was going on at recess, then i looked closely and noticed petichie (small red dots/ broken blood vessels) on his feet and ankles and a few on his chest.
the blood work showed that his platelets were extremely low.  so, immediately we were off to the hospital to see a hematologist.  oddly enough, its a department we know well.  the same one lily goes to.  her first week off and i am there with another child.
all is well, his counts were back up by friday.  apparently he must have had a virus that created antibodies that attacked his platelets.  i had never heard of such a condition, but apparently they see it all the time.  just one big scare for this mama.  whew, i will be going grey much sooner then i thought if this keeps up.

first valentines party

his first valentines party ever and he went to town.

he dumped out the goodies bag as soon as we walked through the door.

eating all the chocolate he could.  he is a chocolate lover for sure, a boy after my own heart.

greek myths

today we were treated with the second grade play.  the play was outside in the garden amphitheater .  the weather perfect.  it was absolutely adorable.  luke was a bit serious but so proud.

afterwards it was a yummy greek feast in the classroom.  what a way to experience and remember the greek gods.
