black and orange

halloween.

lunches made, children dressed, backpacks packed, costume for Logan's costume parade, camera, water bottles, a sip of coffee and we were off to school by 7:45am.  what could i have forgotten, right?

oh, first graders are supposed to be in costume too?  what?  luke was in tears and hiding in the car so no one would see him costume less.  well, daddy saved the day and brought the costume.  we were late, of course, since we were unable to get out of the car without the costume.  then we were late-er because of the red slip we had to go back to the front office to get because we were late.  (seriously, whatever happened to the teacher putting a check by his name that he was tardy?) talk about an inefficient system.

then off to the parade with the two year old who will not stop crying since he saw daddy drive up and drive away after the costume drop off ordeal.  fed the baby girl delicious, homemade, bright orange carrots that ended up everywhere but in her mouth.  the parade. the candy.  the class party.  more candy.  balloons.  more candy.  cookies.  oh and more candy.

this is my crew after a halloween party day before trick or treating.  they had a blast running to each and every house on our street.  their little bags overflowing with goodies.  i think landon ran the fastest from door to door.  in fact, i have never seen his little legs go so fast.

they were allowed to eat two pieces of candy last night and bring one with them in their lunch today.  did i mention that this is not my favorite holiday?  can we boycott it?  the candy part at least?  it turns my kind children into little gremlins.  sugar eating, irrational gremlins.  how long before they forget about the candy?

  1. What a day indeed! Photo on couch is before trick or treating....as after they were all flying sugar high in different directions and trying to be rounded up for bedtime, ha, ha. They all looked so cute in their little costumes though. Landon was funny wanting to carry his own pail of treats, even though it was starting to weigh more than him.....making sure it was going to his house and not Papa's. His little feet did move faster than I have ever seen once he got the hang of what happened after saying Trick or Treat! Luke was adorable actually sharing his loot with Papa and Nana.....of course he couldn't quite bring himself to share the good stuff (candy) he gave us each two bags of the little pretzels, which even so did impress me! Logan wasn't into sharing any of his loot....he also started out strong and then the little airplane just started to sputter. Lily in her little pea pod girly outfit was just to beautiful for words as she slept in her stroller with all the Halloween hub bub goings on around her. Too cute.......Luke, "we didn't even carve a pumpkin".....maybe next year, hectic holidays are upon us, not enough hours in the day to get everything done........but oh the memories of it all!

  3. Hey, come to Germany Halloween next year ; ) No candy overflow is being expected here...

Sounds like a lot of fun and the sweets will be forgotten soon, or shouldn't they? Fingers crossed...
