for years and years i was not sure what i wanted to do with my life.  i traveled, joined the peace corps, moved to different places.  then it happened, i found me.  i became a nurse, a nicu nurse.  it has become a part of my being.  although i have not returned to work since having lily, i know i will someday be in the nicu again caring for little babies.

this past weekend i went to the nicu reunion to see everyone.  its such a blessing to see the babies i helped to care for blossom into toddlers, pre schoolers, and school children.  its hard to envision a baby born at 26 weeks, months early, develop into a beautiful little boy or girl.  i feel honored to know that i took part in caring for them when they were less then a pound.

i was given an envelope which contents have warmed my heart...

"Dear Heather,

This magnet has been getting passed around to our NICU families for the last two years.
Norvice Warren bought it for Toren in the gift shop when he was here over two years ago.
When she came back once she got to meet Jennifer Bone, and gave the magnet to them for Anabella.  When Anabella went home, Janet Estes was already in the pod with her boys Aaron and Brendan.
Before Jennifer and Anabella went home, they passed the magnet onto the boys.
Once Janet was done with the magnet, she brought it back to us at Shea so that we could pass it onto another family who would need it.
Now we pass it onto you, keep it as long as you need it, and pass it forward when the time comes.

With Love, NICU Shea"
